2002 Civic--Emissions light and gas cap

I forgot to put my gas cap on and drove off. Now I am getting an emmisions ligt coming on in my dashboard. I went back and found my gas cap and put it back on but the light remains on. How do I get rid of this warning light?

it may reset after a few restarts. if not visit your dealer for a reset.

disconnect your negative terminal on your battery and keep it off and away from the battery or anything metal on the car for about 45 seconds, replace and your light should be gone.
