please help. axle keeps ripping in half
Hey everyone, I have a 1990 da integra ls, about a month ago my axle went bad so I swapped it out n while doing so I noticed that the intermediate/half shaft was off of a 96 to 00 integra so I changed that as well. I used used parts from my friends ef, I also notice my breaks were tight and gave it a few shots with the wd40 and a couple light taps with a hammer. After putting it back together I noticed that my breaks didn't feel right, I had to push em to the floorf for them to work but I drove it to work anyways and on the way home my axle ripped in half, I figured it was just bad luck since it was a used axle so I got a new one and fixed it again, I left for work and went to the store right beside my house, when I went to pull out the axle ripped in half again. So then I realised it wasn't the axle and thought maybe it was the breaks, so I got a new caliper and axle and tried it again and it broke again when I was pulling away from a stopsign one block away from my house. Also the halfshaft I have isn't in the best shape, I can't just pop the axle in, ii have to tap it in with a hammer. Is the half shaft the problem? I'm not doing great financially right now and can't keep guessing and buying parts. Please help me. I'm sorry about the huge story, I just wanted to give you all of the details. Thanks everyone, for your time.
Wait wait....you're using a d-series half shaft ? if so why ! I hope you didn't throw out the g3 teg one put it back....
it's 94-01 gen 3 integra
and 6th gen civic that is 96-00 which would be a D-series
only 6th gen civic that had a B was the Si/SiR 99-00.
wouldn't be your brakes* that's another issue

No, sorry. Wasnt thinking. Its a b series half shaft. From a hydraulic tranny. I don't know y thwy had it in their. I thought maybe they just didn't know it was the wrong one, now I'm thinking that maybe they had a reason for using it. By they I mean the previous owner.
Sorry, I didn't read all of your post. I thought it was the brakes because it seems that the wheel end is moving slower then the tranny end and the wheel end just couldn't keep up with the tranny end and tthat's y it ripped at the joint. And I thougjt it was the brakes hokding it back. But ur right its not the brakes.
Sounds like you fixed it till it broke. If the old half shaft was working, why change it. Sounds like when the axle is stretched to its limit the bearings are coming out of the cup. I'd say they had a different halfy for a reason. Slap the old one back on and try it.
If it was the brakes then you would of smell something burning. I did it on my Integra a couple years ago. I think you should put back in the G3 half shaft you shouldn't have to hammer the axle in like that. Try to look and see if the gear is bent inside the transmission if so then switch it back. That what happen to me long time ago except the axle didn't rip on me it just pop out of the transmission.
