Call it a cable. The lever is by your driver seat. The cable hooks to it, then runs to the hatch. The hatch has a latch. The cable will attach, nach.

The lock cylinder on the trunk uses a short rod.

The wire for the hatch latch switch is Blu/Blk not yellow. And how damn hard is it to post clear pictures of your hatch latch and the loose wires? If you want help, put more effort into your thread.

guys im not asking about the opening cables. im asking about the open-trunk switch that makes the light turn on the dash when the hatch is opened. my switch isnt hooked up for some reason so that means the light never works.

You fail to grasp the obvious point that the switch is incorporated into the hatch latch. Effort?

This^ is not a switch for the trunk light.

The trunk light switch is in the hatch latch. Open the hatch and look up to see latch.

Test the cluster open-hatch warning light switch in the latch with a multimeter. Make sure the switch connector is plugged in.

By the way, the hatchback does not come with a stock "trunk" light. If you wish to install one, get power for the light from the Wht/Red wire in gray 14P connector C562 and for ground splice into the Blu/Blk wire at the hatch latch-switch connector.
