PM5 ECU, 88 Civic DX
Hello,
My 88 Civic DX hatchback often won't start, though the starter cranks. Fuel pressure is fine. My ECU is flashing code 16. The service manual flowchart tells me to substitute a known-good ECU. (See the flowchart at http://www.flickr.com/photos/zwiebel...le/10569792233)
My ECU is version PM5-A550.
- Are all PM5's compatible, or should I look for the A550?
- Is it possible to get an ECU with a reprogrammable ROM and write the correct binary to it?
- Have you had good luck with ECUs purchased from eBay?
Thanks for your input!

Your engine is Dual Point Fuel Injection (DPFI) so you can only test with another PM5 ECU. Not sure about the A550 though. Might designate manual vs auto. PM5's are NOT reprogramable.
