Icon3 No start fuel issue

I got a no start issue now and need a little help. My Ride died on me mid drive. It didn't sputter out so im leaning more toward electrical then fuel. I know its a fuel issue not a spark issue since I sprayed carb cleaner in the intake and it started right up and stayed on as long as it was carb cleaner fueled.

alright gents #7 plug on my main relay is to the fuel pump can any of you put a test light to it it for me and tell me if that stays on when you turn your key to the on position. mine turns on for about two seconds then shuts off. I tried cranking it with the light connected but i get no power there during crank. im thinking its my main relay. I believe the wire is yellow/black

I've narrowed it down to either the fuel pump or main relay. and I really don't want to drop the tank if I don't have to, just to test the pump. when I turn the engine to on position I don't hear the pump prime but that could be a main relay fault.

I also re-soldered the main relay connection so maybe its an internal crack inside the relay.

Okay. What car is this? The fuel pump should be accessible, in most cases, through the back seat and not by dropping the whole tank. You can always pick up a main relay and try it out to see if it fixes it. If it doesn't, just return it. Any CELs?

I got codes 17 & 21 (unrelated) VSS & Vtec
and usually there is a no return policy on most electronics. I have a 88 civic hatch. the float is accessible through the back seat only. unless you know some secret squirrel way of getting to it.

I thought you meant you had to drop the tank to replace it based on this sentence. That's all.

However, autozone and advance discount should both let you return it. I don't think main relays will set you back very much if you feel like replacing it.

Maybe someone will chime in on the fuel pump with the light though and let you know what theirs does.

nah I haven't looked into much about replacing it but from the little searching I've done I heard you have to drop the tank to get to the pump to replace it. I've been focusing on this relay so far. I'll call about their return policies.

It's pretty easy to test pressure. I installed a gauge for $30 on my fuel filter and never looked back.

yea im def gonna get one I had one on my old EG. I actually fixed the problem over the weekend it was a broken wire about a foot before the pump on top of the fuel tank.

I made the mistake of dropping the tank and testing power at the plug inside the cab that leads to the pump and pulling the pump and testing it but I forgot to test the damn power to the pump from the plug. could of saved a whole damn day by checking that lol oh well live and learn

Yup. Most definitely. Wish there was a better way to find things out.
