Default Carbon fiber hood question

I've noticed my hood has been spotting a little and getting faded in the sunlight is there any kind of carbon fiber paint I could use to fix that or a clear coat protectant?

There isn't such thing as carbon fiber paint, unfortunately. But what you can do is buy the 3m carbon fiber wrap or you can wet sand the hood back down with 600 grit 3m paper I recommend. And use a good clear to re-clear it. I've done a few duckbills and hoods done this way and have had pretty good success. Use a good clear at least made by ppg.

600 is to agressive... maybe start with 600 to cut fast then 800, then re clear the panal. You are going to need to know how to paint clear. You can get supplies at autobody toolmart or eastwood.. PPG is awsome but if you plan to keep up on washing a waxing you can get away with most any clear. You can sand with sanding blocks but the faster way would be a palm DA and a interface pad.

You'll probably hate it if you paint it, it will just accent the fact that it fits nothing like an OE hood. I would just sand & reclear.

IF you want to base and clear it, sand 180, then you would have to primer with polyester primer, then sand 320 dry then 600 wet, then seal with epoxy, the base and clear.

In my opinion this is too much work. I do this stuff everyday in a collision repair production shop. If you want to keep the carbon fiber look without painting it base/clear then you can still get away with clearing it.
