T coupler and blow off valve

T coupler and blow off valve
got my silicone coupler, 2.5" with a 1" nipple. learnt that my Turbosmart Kompact valve is of the 20mm variety, which translates into about 0.8". can i clamp that sucker down to hold, or will that prove a weak point and should i bite the bullet and get the 25mm version?

two tenths (1/5th) of an inch shouldn't matter... what pressure levels do you expect to run?
You could always have a small sleeve machined that you slide over the base of the valve (hold it in place with countersunk set screws) to take up that .2" (1/5th) gap between coupler and valve... But silicone does have a lot of give and will compress a fair bit.
an old school trick is to take hair spray and spray the inside of the coupler and the base of the valve, then install and tighten... The chemicals in the hairspray slightly break down that first cover layer in the coupler making it tacky, like rubber cement. It would ensure leak free performance. We've done this multiple times on charge pipes that kept popping couplers (t-bolts, no bead rolled edge (oops lol))
Another thing you could do is above where you clamp the valve into the coupler is put a few set screws through the coupler, this would keep the valve from literally popping out of the coupler (seen this a lot on dsm's and such that use a coupler mounted valve)

i gave it a nice turn down and it seems to stay. planning at about 20PSI, so hopefully it will work. i am now worried that 20mm isn't big enough of a release valve to dump that pressure.

I did that with mine as well. It worked.... for as long as it was on the road....

female nhra honda drag racer, set a bunch of world records, first 7 second civic, etc, etc. she loved skydiving but an accident actually started her racing career... She started skydiving again and a few months ago while training for a world record jump she had main chute issues and had to cut away the main, couldn't get the secondary chute open in time and hit the ground, killing her instantly.
there's an article on her in this months Honda Tuning... back in the day when she was upgrading the car she offered to sell me a bunch of parts and what not and we would occasionally chat... She was a very talented driver and skydiver. Sad that she's gone at the young age of 32
