Default reverse lights on all the time

I have a 1995 honda civic ex (w/abs) and I have noticed that the reverse lights are always on with the vehicle running. I haven't had much time to look at it, but seeing what some people think. What could be causing my reverse lights to be on (without being in reverse) to stay on. Thanks.

Thats going to be the reverse switch located on top of the trans. Could be broken internally somehow, or the plunger that moves in when the car is put in reverse has become lodged somehow and is not popping back out.

Easy junkyard find

Id start by spraying it off and cleaning up with electrical contact cleaner, could just be build up

Not build up, got a little ball and spring inside the switch that you cant see unless you unscrew it from the trans, just get you self a new switch cause it most likely is stuck.

what makes this switch come on because i removed it and played with it and the reverse lights came on and off, but i noticed that there is an "arm" in the transmission that won't push down causing the lights to stay on. could something be possibly broken my transmission?

if this is a auto-manual converted car.... if those wires touch behind the center console it will cause this.... you would have to take the switch off and make sure its working properly and the sensor slides in and out smoothly...
