Icon2 99 Integra 2dr vs. 4dr Catalytic Converter

Its become seemingly impossible to source a cat for my 99 4dr LS without giving Acura $700 but I was able to pick up a used one from a 2dr. Can anyone tell me the differences and if I (or an exhaust shop) would be able to make it work? Any help is greatly appreciated.

you should be able to go to any exhaust shop and have them weld one in...

They have the same part number so it is the same part, if trim level is the same, [2 door LS and 4 door LS] The GS-R is differant and there is also a diff with auto or 5 speeds. 94

why not just get a magnaflow one and have it welded in ? would easily be a sub 50$ job at an exhaust shop.

Hey guys thanks for the replies, I did search for a Magnaflow OE replacement but they don't seem to make one for the sedan, I guess a universal one is always an option, but I was hoping to find a direct fit to make things easier. If the sedan and coupe part number are the same that makes things a lot easier but thats not what the local auto supply warehouse lead me to believe.

What is the trim level of your 99 2door. GS/RS/LS or GS-R? 94

My car is a 99 4 door LS manual trans, the used cat I picked up is from an unspecified year 2 door LS manual trans, though they confirmed it was from a DC chassis, so nothing before 1994

The first problem is a HFC is what got me the CEL Im trying to get rid of, the second is your ability to read. Nowhere does it say I can't get a universal and have it welded in, I started the thread because I am looking for a bolt on alternative and was wondering if the one I have from a coupe will work.

hmmm strange any HFC's I've put on obd2 cars have not tripped a cel. even considered that the one you have was clogged or the 2ndary o2 sensor was bad/reading incorrect due to the hfc one being clogged. did you buy your HFC brand new ?

Without knowing the year and trim level of the 2 door there is no way I can tell you if it will fit, however if you already have it, why not just jack the car up and see if it fits, all you need is a tape measure. 94

I have a random cat from a 2 dr LS that buddy sent me if you are interested in checking it out. I never had the time to put it on my sedan. I am west chester pa, too. I am surprised to find another db in the area haha

EDIT - I also know a guy in exton who is parting out a 98 GS sedan that he just picked up. I can also put you in contact with him if you want.

Maybe i can provide some additional info. The cat lengths from all years (gen3) is the same. The bolt pattern on the gsr (and i think itr) are different. Inlet side is horizontal on non vtec and angled on vtec models. Only other variation i believe is whether theres a bung for obd2 downstream sensors.

Anyone care to add or clarify information please do. But only with confirmed information. Over time ive been trying to log actual differences that arent noted previously with real data/comparisons.
