burning oil after bottoming out
kind of confused here.. had a healthy low comp jdm b20b in a 91 DB1
hit a nasty dip in the road @ high speeds and bottomed out hard
as soon as i bottomed out huge cloud of burnt oil came out of the exhaust
pulled over shut off car, found no leaks, no major damage, oil was @ min
started car again, no smoke.. but can smell burning oil when coming to a stop and now have to top up oil constantly
i have a p8r head i was going to throw on but i want to make sure it's something in the head vs rings in the block so i know what to replace
any help is appreciated in weather or not its valve seals/stems or rings
[edit]
can't seem to see any smoke @ WOT, seems to only smoke when @ decel off the throttle or when idle

had a buddy rev the car up WOT to 7k rpm, no oil smoke until decel... so it burns when off the throttle or when idling.. valve guides?
more than likely guides or valve seals.
bottoming out wouldn't affect those things at all. but smoke on decal but not accel indicates oil getting sucked in through intake valves

Not sure that this would cause oil to be burnt on the top end but bottoming out could have crushed your oil pan up into the oil pickup. Now the burnt oil smell may be from the fact that there isn't as much oil being pumped through your block and heating up inside the bearings. I would definitely stop running this engine at WOT until you find out what is going on with it.
bottoming out is what caused this whole issue in the first place
....or being sucked passed piston rings...

i'm still at a loss as what caused so much oil to burn from the impact, oil shooting from the pan into the combustion chamber? then ruined my valve seals in process?
do a compression test and a leakdown test. If the oil pan is barely damaged, I really don't see how bottoming out could cause any kind of damage that would cause the engine to burn oil

I'm just curious as to what happened during the impact that caused a good amount of my oil to burn instantly.. open to theories
