Check Engine Light (CEL) after hitting VTEC?
Hi guys! finally found a decent forum
So heres the problem. The engine and everything is in perfect working order. After a traffic light I let off slowly and then full throttle on gear 1 hitting vtec and this boost was .. incredible! On the dual carraigeway a few seconds after the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on. I have a k&n typhoon air filter, custom manifold and 2 big back boxes
The car seems to be running perfectly fine but i never hit vtec after.
Just wanted to ask for some main issues that might be caused after hitting vtec.
I have checked my oil and it looks good. Ill double check as my car is leaning on a tilt atm. Im thinking it might be the vtec solenoid as i do see some dry oil leaking out of it. All solenoid plugs are in properly. Hoping its not something else to do with it. I'll check the coolant just in case.
I have been hitting vtec at least once or twice i drive around but i dont stay long only 1st gear or 2nd most of the time. Oil and filter changed around 1000 miles ish.
Would like everyone to throw possible ideas just so I know what needs to be checked after a situation like this. Just want to know if anyone will throw out the possibility of an o2 sensor or such trivial response
I dont think it could be anything else especially it came on a few seconds after I hit vtec??
I will be looking to clean up my throttle body intake and new gaskets for solenoid is on the way!
Thanks guys appreciate the help!

Unfortunately I do not have the code reader for this. Anyone know where i can get one? want to avoid garages as they charge £50 just for a diagnosis!
