Default Axle Problem!!

I have a 91 DX with a B18A1 Block, B18C Head, and a B16 tranny. When driving, the driver side starts to pop and shake bad. But it doesnt do it all the time and usually when you speed up to 55 it goes away. I went to replace the axle last weekend and got the axle nut off, got the ball joint apart, and once i got the axle loose in the hub and started to pull it out, it kept getting hung up right at the end. Almost like it was getting hung on the bearing but im not sure. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Can you bump it out with a large socket and a hammer?

You usually gotta force those things out. They are meant to be tight. And if you are going to replace it, beating it won't hurt too much.

My next question is which axle should i be buying to replace? 90 Integra or one for the b16 trans? I havent seperated it from the intermediate yet but the way it looks, that end of the axle is a female end and the one for a 90 Integra is a male.

The axle you buy depends on what intermediate shaft you have in there.

Is there a way to tell the difference between the two without taking axle out? So I could buy proper axle before I start?

Crawl under the car and try and get a look at the serial or part number portion stamped on the side of the shaft.
