Engine Swap Help
Hello again guys so Ive determined it would be cheaper to change the engine than to get a new head for my D15b6 , I have a guy selling a D15b2 and was wondering is it able to be just swapped without having to put a new wiring harness on it and just use the stock one?
If your car hasn't been tampered with it should be set up for MPFI. That engine you are inquiring about is set up for DPFI. HOWEVER, if you can locate an equivalent MPFI intake manifold w/sensors and ECU you should be able to drop in that engine just fine.
EDIT: I believe you might be able to get away with using your existing MPFI parts but I do not know if it will run correctly. Well obviously it won't run optimally but yeah...

you can't put the stock DPFI D15B2 into the HF without changing the wiring - your best bet would be to find a D16A6 intake manifold and install that on the D15B2, then use your distributor and engine wiring harness from the D15B6 and use the Si ECU - you would need to make a few changes in the wiring, but nothing major - you could put the intake manifold from your B6 onto the B2 but it is not going to run all that well

well the thing is cause if I take it to a mechanic he wont do or know all that and I might have to be my own mechanic faster than I wanted to but I also have a d16a2 with wiring harness what do you guys think of that?
never heard of D16A2 - did you mean D16A6? - if so, it would work with a few minor wiring changes
You don't use the wiring harness off the engine getting swapped in.
You stick with the wiring that your car was originally equipped with and modify as necessary.

Hmm... sort of and not really.
Most of the sensors and such are interchangeable so your original engine harness will properly plug right into just about all the sensors on the new engine.
Splicing only occurs if your original engine harness did not have accommodations for sensors and such that do exist on the new engine.
The reason it is done this way is because the large connectors that connect the engine harness to the interior harness are not compatible. They are wired differently between the different trims, years, models of the cars.
