Default Inncorrect valve cover gasket?

I have an 97 accord LX with the f22b1, I pulled the valve cover to replace the gasket and adjust the valves, my problem is I think I have the wrong gasket, but this is the second one I got that's supposed to be for the f22, the rubber gasket that goes around the outside of the valve cover is way to big (and yes I put it in the right way, started from the middle and worked my way out) and it is defiantly too big, also the gaskets for the spark plug tubes are round and the valve cover is oval, I've replaced countless B and D series ones and have never had this problem, this is my first F series, is this the wrong part and I they just screwed up twice? Or am I doing something wrong? I'm thinking its the gasket for the F23 vtec and they mixed them up

They probably didnt ask if you had VTEC. Therefore they probably just picked one of the motors and gave you the one for the f22b2.....or even the v6.

One came from the auto parts store and one came from eBay, but at the auto parts store I told them it was an LX and the f23 vtec is only in the EX, I'm almost certain it's for the f23, those brown things would fit right over the spark plug tubes, I made the main gasket work last time by cutting it and using a little bit of silicone, but the spark plug tube ones were totally toast this time, I might just see if I can use big O rings instead of buying a whole new gasket

the '97 stock lx doesn't come with vtec so you need to figure out which motor you actually have since you're also talking about having an f23

the '97 lx(f22b2) and ex(f22b1) have different gaskets

I know what motor I have, this isn't my first rodeo, your not reading what I'm saying correctly, I'm saying I have the f22 but I think both gaskets they gave me are for the f23 vtec, I was just unsure about the gasket because I recieved the wrong parts twice in a row

Didn't mean that in a cocky way, I can see where the confusion came from after re-reading the last post

Again, in it's stock form the LX doesn't have vtec, hence doesn't have the f22b1.

This is as far as I'm going in this thread now.

What was a typo? That you have an F22B1 or an LX?

Ether way, sounds as if you have to order the gasket for the engine not the car. If you have the F22B1 VTEC, then you need to order the gaskets for that engine. i.e. any 94-97 Accord EX (EX-R Canada)

For what it's worth I highly doubt that it is an F23 gasket, more than likely an F22B2 set.
Considering the F22B1 and F23 use the same part number for the valve cover gasket set, 12030-P0A-000.

Here are the Honda part numbers;

F22B2 Non VTEC = 12341-PT0-000 VC gasket only
(12030-PT0-000 Valve cover gasket set)

F22B1 VTEC = 12030-P0A-000 valve cover gasket only
(12341-P0A-000 Valve cover gasket set)

F23A* VTEC = 12030-P0A-000 valve cover gasket only
(12341-P0A-000 Valve cover gasket set)

Might want to try ordering using one of the Honda part numbers.

The motor was the typo, it's a b2 not a b1, it's been a long day and I mixed them up, I took it back and it was an f23 gasket, the kid said he must have grabbed the wrong one
