Default just got a BARD EF hatch with GSR swap

like the title says, I just picked a hatch. I plan on canyon run and track days. so the exhaust has a leak and the exhaust manifold is oem. i want to switch out the manifold for a header as well as the leaky exhaust but im not sure how to go about fitment since it has a b18c1 installed. will i need any modifications to make it fit from header back? and why are some exhaust more expensive than others. for instance flowmaster full header back system is around $250. Apexi worldsport2 is about $600 cat-back. other than the nice finish, is there enough of a difference to justify the price range?

any info about fitment will help, thanks.

Here's what you should do.

Get a header, eBay one if you are broke. Should be some second hand ones around here. Then go to a muffler shop, get 2.25 or 2.5 exhaust, crush bent should be fine since it's NA. Get your muffler of choice. Maybe buy a weld in universal CAT if you need one. I used my OEM one.

Should be $250 or so from head to the back of the car. I put a flowmaster, 2.25'' exhaust, stock cat on my car for $100 at the exhaust shop. Plus the cost of the muffler, $60 at the parts store. $100 for a cheap header, or more if you are actually wanting some 'engineered' goodness.

You won't find a bolt in for your car since it doesn't have the stock motor, at least not for a cheap price. You can find them custom made or some high end companies producing them.

the leaky exhaust that you have... is it OEM as well or custom fitted by a muffler shop? You should be able to purchase any bolt on exhaust if your using a type r or ls exhaust manifold. if you are using a GSR exhaust manifold then you would have to extend the exhaust piping approximately 4" because the GSR exhaust manifold is shorter than the 2.

well i got it all dialed in finally....dealt with a dishonest shop, what a loser (just for a quick buck)...little does he know i have deep pockets and this car is my new hobby so he just lost a great customer that will be spending lots of money.
so anyways i drove down to Inline4 and picked up a DC sport Type-R 4-1 one piece header and blox test pipe and found a sweet clean condition Invidia exhaust off a great kid from craigslist, I installed everyhing so it fit well and no more exhaust issues.
now i have motor out of car and doing a rebuild with all OEM parts, oil pump, water pump, new oil pan, gaskets, even using honda bond....
next the tranny (92-93 GSR YS-1) will go to syncrotech for a rebuild using master carbon synchro kit, 4.7 or higher final drive and an Mfactory clutch type LSD
I CANNOT WAIT to hit the track and im having a blast learning all this... totally different than the world of road bikes thats for sure!!!

i will try to start a build thread

Had a friend rebuild the motor.
Had Synchrotech build me a custom transmission with MFactory Clutch type 1.5way LSD, carbon fiber synchros, B16 short gears with LS 5th. 4.9 final drive, 9lbs flywheel and 6 puck sprung clutch (thanks to James @ Synchrotech)

Cool swap. Post some pics and maybe a video. You'll be flying through the gears with that final drive. It will be quick.
