questions on low buget b18b boosting
got a used go autoworks turbo kit with turbonetics t3,log mani,3"downpipe,piping, intercooler, tail 38mm wastegate etc...
he doesn't want to spend the cash to get a chipped ecu an tune it that way.
we already got a FMU 10.1,440 injector an a 255 fuel pump.we are just going for 7-8psi.the b18b1 block is stock the head as crower stage 2 with springs, retainers. how much retard on timing would be safe? thanks

if you have a knock sensor you may be able to get away with that amount of boost with colder plugs on that fmu with the 440 injectors; but since you have cams that's another ball park, so run stock cams on a fmu or just be efficient and run a tune.
yea, park the car until you can get a chipped ecu and proper tuning.
I give that engine 2 days of you guys screwing around before it blows up.

I've never used the FMU, but you guys should be able to tune it yourself on a low budget. You can find people selling their tuning equipment around here every now and again. Or just go to a shop. A lot of the shops I know of charge $500 + software (if needed) to do a 4 hour dyno tune.

what turbo?
why injectors as well as a fmu?
I would test the fmu first and see if the stock injectors can handle the fuel requirements with the fmu pumping the pressure under boost.
timing wise I would make a quick set of det cans and retard it a couple degrees and listen in for det.
