Default Bigger trip w/ leaking heater core? Help me please!

Hi guys!

So I really have to go to a bigger trip (about 150 miles) at the next week. Unfortunately my heater core is leaking. Not that bad, just a tiny bit, there are some antifreez on my passenger side carpet, but dont loose too much.
So my question is, if i completely close the heater control valve, the leaking should stop right? Or is it still some fluid flows through that valve?
Furthermore, there must be some air trapped in the system because of the leakage, so is it makes any sense to close the heater control valve, and than bleed the system?
I will fix the heater core next weekend so i really dont want to bypass the hoses until than.
So should i choose the train or there will be no prob. to go by car?

Thanx for your help!

Choose the train. The heater core will leak even with the valve closed.

Ron,
could he disconnect and mate the 2 ends of the inlet and outlet hoses, and get the heater core out of the coolant loop? Also, I would think this would confirm the heater core as the only leak.
