'97 Accord A/T stuck in park except w/key
I have to use the key in the console keyhole (positioned just right of shifter) to get out of park. Will this persist after brakes are bled? Assuming problem is related to busted/replaced brake hose & fluid...
brake hoses/fluid have nothing to do with the parking solenoid. To start with a problem like that you may want to check that the brake pedal switch(es) are working with a multimeter.
Update:
Sooo: Must be Coincidence that the brake line and brake lights/sys act up simultaneously... I have now burnt thru four 20amp fuses after replacing the busted brake hose & bleeding the system. The 'Horn/StopLite' fuse replacement unlocks the shifter & the lites work for an unknown time/sequence/number of braking events. Before I reach my destination, the brake lites have failed and I will be stuck in Park (unless I leave it in neutral with the parking brake...).
I b check the pedal switch and console solenoid now and replace the 20amp fuse again. Thanks & will update again soon!

Has the car ever been in a accident? If it has I'd be checking the wiring harness near the taillights and wherever your horn is located. If you have a fuse repeatedly burning out then it is likely an intermittent short to ground which can be caused by damaged insulation on a wire shorting it to ground. If you're not finding anything unusual you're going to need a wiring diagram for the car and a lot of patience to find what is causing your problem.
Finally! grjr: The trailer wiring was the culprit! Homey removed the trailer wires & reported there were some very suspicious connectors. Five 20-amp fuses later and all is well!
Thanks very large!
