Buying an EP3..Question about stalling issue
Hi all,
I am from the Netherlands but currently located in Germany and I am new on this forum.
I spent some time in Charlotte NC in 2011-2012 with an engineering company and a few engineers there got me interested in Hondas. I am not an engineer myself, but the interest in cars is there.
Now I am looking to buy a Honda here in Europe. I was originally looking for a 96-00 civic coupe but I ran into an ad for an EP3 which is almost too cheap and attractive to be true.
There is one issue with it though, according to the seller. The car will randomly stall sometimes, but will also start right back up again. The seller is stating in the ad that there is an 80% chance that's it's a transmission-related issue. I am thinking to myself, how can a manual transmission make a car with only 86000 KM stall randomly at times. The seller has changed the crank shaft sensor but in the ad it is still showing to have a check engine light.
Before I make the 3 hour drive up to where the car is located I wanted to ask you guys' opinions on this.
Can it really be a transmission related issue?
I am thinking there are only a few options that aren't tranny-related.
-Timing is off
-some sensor is broken
-ignition switch issue

Thanks a lot and I look forward to replies!
