I'm having an issue with the manual door lock on my driver door on my 98 civic dx. I cant lock or unlock it from outside and to lock it or unlock it from the inside i have to hold my door handle open. What could cause this? Do I need to replace the lock/latch mechanism? All the linkage rods appear to be hooked up right.

 

Holding the door handle open from the inside is normal. So you don't lock your keys in.
