i looked behind it, seems there is a bit of darkness on the white clip, but i would think if something shorted the fuse would be blown

do i need to cut and splice in a new clip, get a whole new lighter? dunno

is there power to the lighter?

 

the white clip and its inner (thin) copper trace has burnt up due to heat or its at the end of its lifespan. check for 12V at lighter outlet. then take apart and verify 12V at wiring harness to ligjhter..If you have 12v at harness replace lighter socket. Easy stuff
