B16 or b18 tranny
Since my tranny is making noises I'm planning to open it up and check it and I got a b16a SI motor from my friend and planning to try on the b16 tranny do you guys think it'll be good? I dd/cruise with my car and track here and there. I just have basic Bolts on
a b16 trans is short geared, so you will have faster acceleration. and will stay higher in the RPM's on the highway, but not bad. I have a 98+ JDM ITR trans with a 4.7 FD and at 62mph i'm at roughly 4300 RPMs.
An Ls (b18b1) trans will be low geared, more for economy. Having long gears will make each gear "go faster" but also taking longer to get to the end of each gear.

I guess it also depends if you are going for all out performance, or comfort/gas mileage. The shorter gears don't just make it feel faster, it increases acceleration by giving up top end MPH.
i have a b16 tranny. i cruise at 60-65 and stay within 3000-35000 RPM. the slow driving doesnt bother me. i like it. the power is there when i need it. but going 80 mph is a no go. kills my gas anyways.
F2B set up in my integra.
also i commute about 52 miles to and from work every day (about 26 miles to work and 26 miles from work). i avg 28-30 mpg. 32 on a good week :]

The b16 tranny as previously stated has a short gear ratio which it will help with your acceleration and the b18b tranny will definetly be good if your looking for fuel economy.
