rev limiter changes from 4000 to 5000rpm

rev limiter changes from 4000 to 5000rpm
anyone have this prob. eng light stay's off when limiter goes to 5000,but other times it drops to 4000 then the eng light comes on, vtec solenoid appears to work

Not much to work with here....don't even know the year?
So with the lack of info.....all I can say is you should check for stored codes. Once you get the code. Let us know what it is and update us on the year/engine/trim level of the car and we can go from there.
