Proper Timing Belt Installation
The question is what is the exact procedure for installing and applying tension the timing belt.
The back story is my Acura Integra lost the water pump one day while I was going down the interstate after a tow job home I bought all the parts form Honda and went to work. After applying tension to the timing belt, I back the tension bolt 180 degrees like I was told by a Honda mechanic.
Cut to two months later the car jumped time while I was out of town. After another tow job I discovered that the timing belt was super loose. Once again I went to Honda and bought all the parts. This time I tightened the hell out of the tensioner and left it that way. No one told me this I just decided to give it a try.
Cut to two months later again this time the timing belt has been shredded and come off.
So would someone please school me on proper timing belt installation and tensioning technique.
Cheers!

Check that stupid ******* spring. it fails inside that rubber sleeve. after a while, i just used a coat hanger and a pair of channel locks for tension while adjusting the tension.
New question. My oil pump mark is not where Acura says it should be. The manual shows the mark at roughly 1 oclock. Mine is located at 11. Help?
