I have a 96 Civic Dx with a Automatic transmission 180k miles on it.

last month I had my Oil changed at my local shop, I few minutes while i was heading home My Civic suddenly stop shifting as if i was on neutral . I turn off the car and start it right back and the car started shifting again , then I head back to the shop and told them what happened , they said they dont know . The car was owned by my uncle and it sat on the yard most of the time for the last 5 years . so i decided to keep it .. i used it for 3 month then had this oil change.
the car ran super fine before the oil change and they're pretty sure it was the engine oil they changed.
Now i went home and checked it with my scan tool no codes only a O2 sensor ..


I dont know what seems to be the problem with it.

anyone , can you help me ?

 

check the fluid level of the automatic transmission fluid (ATF). follow the instructions in the owners manual. check the color and the smell of the fluid as well, it should be red (not dark) and not smell burnt. If it is low use only Honda ATF to fill to the proper level. If your fluid is dark or smells burnt your trans may be on its last legs
