New to this civic/tranny question
Hi guys quick question.
Just picked up a 05 Civic LX Auto and I plan to change all fluids. First step is tranny. Like my other Hondas, im guessing there is no tranny filter correct?
Standard remove pass front tire, loosen drain bolt, fill accordingly correct.
This didnt come with a manual so how many qts do our trannys hold when draining from the drain bolt?
Thanks

I've got a 2001 but if I remember right it's 3 quarts. But 3 quarts remain in the transmission. It does have a filter but does not have one external. Many people add an external filter with the 2002 and lower (I think) because the tranny's had some problems. Yours should be fine. Only use genuine Honda fluid IMO.

you don't need to take off the passenger wheel. make sure the driver side is higher.
buy 3 qts but put in 2.5 to 2.75 qts and recheck level.

Thanks guys. Just did it last night. I ended up taking the pass wheel off because I wanted to inspect the brakes too. The fluid that came out wasnt too black, but def needed a change.
I'm thinking of driving around, then changing again. How many miles do you think I should wait in between changes?
