Default Spring Rate Question -

Hey, I plan on upgrading to a Koni Yellow/GC setup in the near future and was planning on running 400f/500r springs, the car will see it's fair share of track and auto-x time, as well as street. I'm not to worried about it being "too stiff" for the street, but mainly wondering if this setup would be decent for track / auto-x duty? if not, what do you suggest?

john:
i'm currently running 560lb springs F&R on Zeal B6 on my car. Considering that these rates are more than 2x the stock rates, my car rides pretty good. I would say that it rides a just a little bit more stiff than stock.

How it handles on a track or autox, I have no idea yet. But I'll post up impressions after the track day next weekend.

I started off with 400/450 and it understeered too much for Track and AutoX, though for the street it was fine. I later upped the rear rates to 550 and added a 23m rear bar and it rotates so much better. It allows me to get on the gas much earlier in a turn.

I think that the 400/500 will be a good setup and when you get use to it and want more rotation (less understeer) then you can get a larger rear sway.

I am running 10k f/8k r (Toda FIGHTEX coilovers) and the JDM rear 23mm sway bar. Car feels great and handles exceptionally. First autox with these rates 11/17...

I was suprised how good these rates felt on the street.

I have 400/600. Still streetable, but it is quite stiff. I think 600/800 would still be streetable, but I'd have to have a second car.

would you suggest bumping the rears up to 600? i want oversteer, and i figure it's better to have plenty from the springs, then dial it out with the shocks if need be, rather than trying to add oversteer with the shock settings, you know what i mean?

I can dial in the oversteer with tire pressure. 33f 35r and my car is nice and neutral, only oversteers when I really push it, or do something stupid.

If you really want more oversteer, go with 400F/600R + 26mm Mugen rear bar and a roll bar or cage....

cage: check
swaybar: i'm not THAT crazy
springs: i think i'm gonna go 400/500 and work with tire pressures, 600 is pushing it on OTC konis.

You can always crank up the rear shocks if you want more rotation.
