I can't find anything about this online. Maybe I'm the only one who's car makes odd noises when it's not even on.

Found myself awhile back hearing an odd noise whenever I closed a door or the trunk. A high pitched whine noise that would last about 2-3 seconds then she'd shut up. I thought it was a result of closing a door or something.

Until I was checking my sub wiring and heard it about 5 or six times in a row and the doors were open and the trunk closed.

Think of the sound of a dying rabbit but not so squeaky and quieter. When the damn car is OFF.

Any ideas?

 

is it electrical or mechanical?

 

i have heard that before LONGGGGG time ago. if i remember it was a electrical issue related to the dome light of something dumb

 

yup my del sol made that noise i took my dome light out and it quit

 

So do y'all think it's wiring or the light itself? Cause I'm considering switching interior lights to LED.

Oh boy my favorite. Well I'm detailing the car right now so I'll see if I hear it.

 

just pull the dome light for a week and see what happens

 

Yeah I'll do that today. I heard it last night and the light was off. I hate it coming on sometimes. But I'll see what happens.

 

So I took the dome light out a few days back. And sometimes I can still hear a noise, but it's not nearly as loud or obnoxious. But that is a contributing factor.
