Weird wire on 1992 Accord
Hi all, this is my first post here.
I've been having a lot of trouble with 92 Accord LX lately. A month ago, had to have valve gasket seals out on because of oil on the spark plugs. Last week, it was a distributor.
However, a problem that I haven't been able to crack is an electrical one. When I am driving, the tachometer will bounce up and down. This only happens when electrical "stuff" is turned on. For example, sometimes it will bounce up and down in time with the blinker. The bouncing is not a representation of what the engine is actually doing. Also, when I'm stopped at a light, it will usually just drop to 0, even when the engine is idling just fine. The air conditioning will also blow harder or softer in accordance with how much gas I am giving the engine.
All fuses are fine, battery is new, etc. One variable is that the car is from North Dakota and it has an automatic starter and engine block heater on it. However, since I have had it, it hasn't been used because I don't have the remote, nor the need for an automatic starter.
Anyway, I have discovered this random wire with blue connectors that is connected to something that I don't know what it is. It goes through the firewall and isn't connected to anything under the steering column. Any idea what this wire is. (see pictures)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For the first part it sounds like a ground issue. I would clean up the main ground at your thermostat housing. Just take off the wire and clean it up if it's dirty and put it back.
For the second part we can't see the pics.

Okay, I found the thermostat ground, but it's deep in the engine... How should I get to it? It does look pretty corroded. I am having serious electrical issues now.
