Default best ecu to run?

I just sold my old gsr and I just bought a new one its a 1999 gsr everything is bone stock, but today I just finish installing a new pipe, manifold, headers.. etc.. currently running on RMF headers w/ Mugen Twin Loop, Skunk2 Manifold, PWjdm Power Chamber (whale *****) and I'm thinking about getting a new ECU because the problem with the car is that it came with a p30 which the OWNER didn't tell me about it... and it doesn't run right .. so I was wondering if you guys can help me out.

I don't know anything about ecu and what is hondata? all I know is p72 is stock gsr but my friend gave me a chipped p28 and said it would be better... and is chipped and socketed the same?

since 99 i'm assuming you're running obd1 via a jumper harness a p28 for YOUR set up is what's needed. NOT your buddy b20V lets say. Hondata is a company they make the s300 which is a great tool/item to have but unnecessary for your set up/currently.

You also failed to mention the tune he will need since he has swapped the intake manifolds. SInce you are no longer running the GSR intake manifold and switched to a S2 manifold. You will need a tune to get the most out of it and to run even proper. You are currently obd2 if you want to run a obd1 ecu to use the P28 you will need a jumper. Still you will need a tune, if you ran the GSR ecu that should be in it you will get a CEL do to the ECU trying to read the second set of Butterflys. I like the GSR intake manifold for the low end gains as the S2 only offers High end gains and makes Dailying it a PITA.

Im not sure on the OBD2A part, that can be answerd through google search. The "Socket" mean the ecu is ready to have its main chip removed and replaced with out having to be soiderd on.

99 is OBD2B

All you need is:
Jumper Harness
Socketed ECU
Tuned Chip for your setup

Plain and simple
