No check engine light but car is running rich!
My 99 LS had a check engine light after I unplugged my O2 sensor to readjust the exhaust. I plugged it back in and it stayed on. So I did what you aren't supposed to do and unplugged the battery for about 10 min. I know, I know it was the improper way to do it. The light cleared so I thought I fixed it. Well I have a narrow band AF gauge ( it's not an accurate gauge I know) and its reading rich most of the time. The car gargles and pops when I let off the throttle. What could be causing this if I don't have a check engine light to tell me what's going on?
First thing I would check is the ECT sensor.
Question, does engine start easily when cold but harder to start when at running temp.?
One of the symptoms of an engine running rich^^^. 94

When I got the car someone had installed a temp gauge and spliced into the ECT sensor wires. Every once in awhile the gauge will peg to 250 degrees because two of the wires touch each other in the gauge pod. I have to turn the gauge a little to read correctly. I plan on fixing that too this weekend.
for the price it's worth a shot, 2nd what is your fuel pressure at ? 3rd any aftermarket fuel sys components ex:pum/injectors/regulator ? also is the engine stock ?
I never suggest replacing parts untill testing has been done, tossing parts at a problem is an expensive way to troubleshoot a problem.
Although it may be a bad ECT sensor, it may also be as simple as a poor connection at the sensor or other connecting point. 94

Its a b18c1 in a LS. Only a SRI and Exhaust.
Still ECT Sensor could be a factor then? I'll have to take a look at it this weekend. Its a pretty cheap part, probably pretty simple to replace. I'm not sure how I would test it.
