Default 95 Accord Head Gasket

1995 Accord LX Sedan with the 4 cylinder non-VTEC engine. So, I dismantled the head and had it milled, pressure tested, etc. I pulled the head gasket off and can't remember which way it goes. It's the 3 piece metal type OEM from an online Honda discount supplier. Now, it can only go one way as far as left to right goes. If I flip it top to bottom or bottom to top there is a difference. The difference being where the center hole is that goes over the oil orifice on the firewall side. If I flip it one way it is covered by the middle sheet of aluminum. If I flip it the other way it is open to the head. Damned if I can remember which way. Also, the metal is slightly pressed down or up around the cylinder holes depending which way I flip this thing. Yep, I forgot to photograph this when I took it off. Do I use High Tac on it?

Thanks

normally head gaskets have marks on them indicating which way is up...if yours doesn't have one i would go to the nearest parts store and ask to see one and hopefully it will have a mark indicating which way is up

be that as it may, if yours doesn't have any marks I would probably get another brand name gasket..not sure if i would trust it

Thanks. I found my answer later today. The gasket above is Honda OEM. I realized my photos are a bit backwards. If you flip it left to right or right to left it would be correct. It's ever so subtle, but holes on the far side of the gasket and closest to the firewall fit over the two dowel pins which only fit the head on the firewall side. The dowel pins only fit the firewall side of the block and only two of the openings fit the dowel pins. In my case, the black side would be up, not the more silver side. The holes opposite the dowel holes are ever so much smaller and you can see it in the photos. If I were to rotate the upper photo 180 degrees this would also leave the two holes in the middle open. The oil orifice is on the firewall side to match one of the holes. As Sherlock Holmes said, "Watson, you see but do not observe". Stamping up on it would have been simpler, but this design does make it idiot proof. Learn something everyday.
