I finally got my car to run after a couple of months of trying to figure out the problem. Once I got it running I come to find out that it won't rev past 2.5 Rpms. I had my mechanic check it out an rule out a couple of things that it could be. Told me there wasn't anything he couldn't do any more not what anyone wants to hear. Anyway can some please help me out? I'm dying to get this car fixed if not ill be havin a del sol wit a type r swap or just a jdm b18c type r for sale

 

Whats it do at 2.5k rpms. Launch control? Lose power? Just wont go past 2.5k? Need to provide some more details.

 

Sorry bout that just spudders like it wants to stall out once I let go of the gas it won't do it. Does that for every gear. Hits 2.5 an spudders. Was on the high way an it wouldn't go past 40. Would spudder to

 

My mechanic checked the fuel pump an he said that wasn't the problem look online an it said it could be the map or tps sensor that were mixed up but they are in the right plug. Idk what else to do

 

You can test the tps with a multimeter. If you search im sure you can find a tutorial, just gradually increase it and make sure theres no drops , spikes or dead spots.

Have you used that ecu before, or tried another one?

Id start with tps, its most likely a sensor.

When your on the throttle before 2.5k is it sluggish or sputtering at all,or just perfect??

 

It's sluggish picks up real slow.

 

It doesn't sputter till it gets to 2.5

 

Replaced fuel filter?

 

No haven't replaced it

 

Possible, but id still put my money on a sensor. Doesnt hurt to change your filter anyways/

 

Your on OBD1, 2? Why not use a code reader / jumper the diagnostic and find out what your problem is.

 

Hey man i had a similar problem with a few projects of mine, non of which were r swaps and I have no idea exactly how a type r motor is configured but on my d series it was a problem with a ground on the thermostat housing. On my buddies crx it was a problem with the conversion over to 0bd1 at the distributor. Agin I'm not sure how this relates to your swap but I hope it helps

I'm on obd 2, the mechanic that was lookin at my car couldn't find where to plug up the code reader

 

Can I jump or short the service connector to get the codes? Even though I am running od2

i had an old civic that did this and come to find out I had a bad connection on one of my injectors. wouldnt let it go over 2.5k

 

What you do to fix it

 

jumped (bridged) power wire from one injector to the other. worked like a charm then did new wiring on it afterwards.

 

Hopefully I'll check it this weekend I don't live where my car is at
