Default Replace Head Bolts for HG change?

Just a quick question and I have heard mixed opinions on this with the F series, some saying you can use them twice and it'll be fine others saying replace them each time. My head bolts have been used one time, only have about 30,000 miles on them, BUT the car did overheat one time. Based on the fact that the car overheated, should I replace the bolts? And btw I will be using F23 bolts since they are only $25 lol.

Another thing, what are the chances of my block being warped? I know I gotta get the head milled down and how many times is it possible for a head to be milled before it is out of spec, milliions of times?

Before you call me stupid for asking this and saying they are TTY (torque to yield) bolts I have heard people refute that on the Cb7Tuner forum and say that they are in fact NOT TTY bolts and that the Honda manual never actually specifically tell you to replace the head bolts after each use.

what you heard was right, they are not TTY. I'm not aware of honda using TTY head bolts on anything they've made. under normal conditions, in a daily driver you can reuse them several times without issue. you should clean them well and inspect the threads closely for wear or damage and replace if needed.

there is probably a service limit specified in the manual for head thickness or head mounting surface to some reference point. but it's not so cut and dry as a specific number of times. it depends on how much material needs to be removed each time it's milled to get it flat again.

both the deck (block) and the head should be checked (ie, measured) per the service manual for flatness esp. if it's been overheated.

Alright thnks for the reply. You mean the head bolts should be fine even though the engine overheated?

And in terms of having the block warp, is this an extremely rare situation?

Its more common on Aluminum blocks. Don't "it should be fine" like you usually do. Get a machinists rule and check it yourself or have someone with experience check it.

If it is warped that's bad cause then the whole engine needs to be pulled... I really just wanted to know what the probability of it being warped is, as it is now my HG issue seems to have been healed by the stop leak, before when I opened the radiator cap I could not see coolant; now when I open up the cap I see that its full... yay. But the top radiator hose is bulging pretty badly and needs to be replaced so I just ordered one. I heard that maybe it was because of the combustion gases getting into the cooling system but seems like my HG issue is not bad enough to do that so its just a old worn out hose causing the bulge... My HG issue is not severe, it could be that the cylinder head isn't even warped, but I don't know I am not experienced here, and would like to know the probability of the head/block being warped and if its more common for one or the other and if I need to think about doing a full engine pull to shave the block down...
