Default Rebuilt GSR YS1: Not always going in 2nd

About two weeks ago I finished my rebuild on my 92 gsr YS1 tranny. I never had the transmission in the car so I really don't know what problems it could have had before the rebuild. I ended up replacing all the synchros, springs, the 3-4 sleeve, and a counter shaft bearing. When I got it back together I had a hard time bench shifting into 2nd gear but I figured that once everything was moving and oiled up that it would be ok. Well I got it installed and have about 1000 miles on the tranny and it goes in 2nd gear maybe 25% of the time. Every other gear is butter. I have yet to grind a gear. A lot of times when I try to put it in 2nd, it goes maybe a 1/4 of the way in gear but stops and its almost like I can feel the gears turning. There is no grinding sound or anything. Once its in 2nd, it has no problem coming out of 2nd. Most of the dog teeth on all the gears had some wear but nothing too crazy. All parts were ordered from gear speed. Its got just over 2 quarts of Honda mtf in the tranny. What do you guys think the problem could be? 1-2 sleeve? 2nd gear itself?
