Many aftermarket replacement pistons today are available with moly coated skirts to protect new pistons against scuffing. The coating also allows you to run slightly tighter clearances to reduce piston noise when the engine is cold, and blow-by. Upgrading to coated pistons is probably a good idea for any engine that has a history of scuffing or may be prone to detonation or overheating. Think of it as insurance against piston problems.

i think maxima is great family car. i used lease 98~ and i loved it~ real smooth and quite~ pretty powerfull too. it was automatic but when i pushed it. it could burn the tires at the line .. nice tourque~ but not that good handling ^^
sorry of the OT though

After reading (partially) the "Mobil1 supersynthetic oil" thread where they talk about less oil brand having molybdene included in there composition it seem like a good idea to prep. the pistons "permanently". Is it more as an engine wear protection or is there performance advantages also to moly coated pistons ?
