Default 15" Wheels with 2" drop

Yes I did a search and did not get what I wanted to know.

I am thinking about buying Honda Optional 15" wheels for my 96 Prelude. I am also going 2" drop springs with KYB shocks. Now my question is has anyone else used 15" wheels with low profile tires with a 2" drop on a 4th Gen Prelude? If so what size tires are you using? Pics would also be really nice.

My 96 stock rims are 15"

When you say low profile tires what do you mean? You're gonna go with a lower profile than stock?

Anyways here's my lude on my stock rims dropped 2 inches on Eibach Sportlines

I have the same rims that you have but they are all scratched and curbed.
I'm looking to go 15" wheels with yes a lower profile than stock. I know stock is 205/55-15, but there is also an option of 215/50-15. What size are you running now? I'm almost thinking my tires are the wrong size. I'll have to check tomorrow morning. I think I have a 195/60-15 which came on the car when I bought it.

What are you using as far as shocks? I didn't know you couldn't use KYB.

Mine are scratched and curbed gives the lude character

Here's a nifty calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Anyways the 195/60 are the proper size....so is 215/50 you have to realize these two tires have virtually the same sidewall height as your stock 205/55's, the numbers only change because they are a %of tire width.

195*.6 = 117mm sidewall, 205*.55 = 113mm sidewall, 215*.5 = 108mm sidewall

So we're talkin 5mm max difference in sidewall...so the term "low profile" doesn't apply in this situation

I have 2001 stock prelude shocks on my car, cause I just don't care...they cost me $60 and are practically brand new. But I'm not gonna spend money on aftermarket shocks that will be blown in no time (like KYB AGX over 1.5"). Koni's or stock for me...

H&R race springs, 15" JDM ITR rims.

Yeah, there's the license plate. The car isn't registered to my current address, it's insured, and I would love a DC2 with an H22. **** thieves.

here's a close-up of the JDM y0! goodness for boosted97

Why can't you use KYB with more than a 1.5 lowering?

Because they can't handle the spring rates. They even say it on their website.

I ran KYB's for 3 years with a 1.5" drop, no problems with 400/500lb spring rates, still worked great when I sold them...

Toss on a set of 15-16" racing rims, and this car is perfect.

The pinicale of style and taste mixed with a little bit of grace.
