not sure if the clear coat is coming off or not, all i know is dat it
doesnt come off when i wash the car

 

you should post pics.. i had a similar problem and found out that it was caused by the fact that i parked my car in an area that was getting soaked by my sprinkler system and the hard water was drying on the car and leaving really nasty spots on the car.. they went away after i waxed it..

 

yea hard water and rain **** me off. if u let water stay on there especially rain it will do that. wax it latly?

 

Yep, water spots are most noticable on black cars. I've got some on mine too. I'm not sure if waxing will help, but it's worth a try.

Have your car buff waxed or polished and the spots should come off. Thats all I do when spots stay on my car

 

For contaminants staining the paint, try a claybar product and/or Meguire's Body Scrub.

If its kinda dark greyish spots then you can just scratch it off with your nails or get a brush(takes a while). I had the same prob.
