Why b16?
I'm just wondering, why do people swap b16 motors into their cars? I know they are generally cheaper than b18s and k series, but (unless turbo) I never see a high powered b16 motor. So do people swap b16s simply for fun, daily driving power? Because the people I know that like to race on the track and strip go with b18s, k's, and ls/vtec swaps. Along the same note, why do people also do these H2B swaps I've been seeing. Thanks for the help.
h2b are good in power and torque. I have been running h2b for about 6 years now. I went h2b because I had a b-series swap and had a few good transmission laying around. Other advantages are: no shifter cables, no custom axles, no cutting brackets for motor mounts and better gearing on the transmissions with more aftermarket support. My h22a1 engine makes 199whp and 155ft lb tq. with aftermarket intake, header and exhaust. It is a poor mans K-series swap.
I'm building a b16 for my daily ill be happy with 170whp anything over ill be ecstatic. It's just for my daily driver in my crx. Don't doubt a b16 man, I seem them take out gsr, lsvtec, & I'm hoping to take out stock block b20v with mine. But yeah more power can be made with other options.
b16 is pretty good for small cars like hatches because they can rev to the moon and back making decent hp. not much torque though, which is why they're really only decent for lightweight cars
