Default Sparco Torino and Recaro SRD owners... Need input...

I'm considering these seats to replace the Del Sol seats in my Si. I like the lower seat height of the Del Sol seats a lot, but I want more support. I'm 6ft and 220 lbs and like my seat slid back as far back as it can go. Since I don't know anyone who has these or even if any of the local shops carry them, I want to get actual owner's inputs on how they feel and sit based on your body type.

Thanks...

my Srd sits lower and farther back than my stock seats did.

I don't personally own neither seat but i have sat in the torinos. I am 6'2" weighing 230lbs. The torinos were alittle tight for me. If you want a wider seat, I'd look at the milano. They are exactly like the torino but a few inches wider.

Check them out if you can.

The Sparcos are used, and a little less money than the SRD's. But I would have to do a 12 hour round trip drive to pick those up, too. I'm leaning towards the SRD's though...

I went through the same debate myself about a year ago. Ended up getting the SRD, and am quite happy I did. I am 5' 8", ~180 lbs. I have big legs, so the leg bolsters are a little snug, but not uncomfortable, and the side bolsters are just fine. HTH

Will only get Recaro myself due to the quality and comfort. JDM or not doesn't matter. I'm using a SR3 anyways.

Had a Sparco Torino in my Type R for a while. At 5'11" and 175, it fit perfectly. Only problem was the height of the seat (about 2" higher seating position than stock ITR seat). Problem could have been solved with different rails.

I felt that the hip bolsters were a bit wide for me, so you should be ok. See if you can sit in one before buying.

Huh? What rails were you using? With my sparco rails, my torinos sit an inch lower than stock. I'm also 5'11, 175lbs and the torinos are pretty snug......so for someone 6', 220lbs i doubt they'll be comfortable at all.

Sparco sliders and "wedge" base bracket. I don't doubt they were lower than GS-R seats (which sit much higher than stock ITR seats).

Well this has to be with all non-2001 gsr seats because mine are exactly like my friends 2001 ITR seats besides the material. exactly the same height.

My comparison was between my roommate's '99 GS-R and my '00 Type R. Compared stock-to-stock, the seating position in the two cars differed by at least 1.5 inches. My head is in the roof in his car. Was not so with mine, until I put in the Sparco. Finally sold it because I didn't want to spend another $200 for a better bracket.

What bracket are you using in your car?

You're forgetting the extra head room the type R has because it has no sunroof. GSR seats are the same as Type R except for the material.

How do the SRDs feel on long trips compared to the ITR seats? Are they more comfortable as well as more supportive?

IMO, more comfortable than stock. I would suggest the extra lumbar though.

At 5'9" and 170,I found the SRD's to be very comfortable and much better for the track and auto x. Long trips are actually not bad at all,the only thing is the leg bolsters can get you feeling a bit cramped after several hours. I would suggest that you sit in them if at all possible,I have a feeling they could be a bit snug with your build. On a side note, both myself and a friend bought our SRD's from Options Auto Salon. I had the red and my friend got the black. The black seats were a completely different material and a bit more roomy? Red fades rather easy and shows stains, just some food for thought

What is a good and reputable place to purchase the SRD on-line?

Has anyone tried the new Sparco Fighter?
http://sparco-usa.com/pseats_street.asp?id=403

I'm considering putting some buckets in my new 350Z, and these look pretty sweet. My main issue is retaining the stock seat belt. Do any of you guys NOT use a harness, and use the regular seatbelt instead? I really don't want to mess with a harness. Thanks.
