I am looking at some test pipes for my 01 gsr at a local Honda performance shop and they were saying of the two test pipes they have, one has a JDM exhaust flange vis the other has USDM exhaust flange. He was saying I'd be better off with the JDM flange test pipe. The JDM one is PLM and the USDM is BLOX.

I will put this on my stock exhaust until I buy an aftermarket exhaust within the next couple of weeks.

Does this guy know what the hell hes talking about?

 

JDM is 2.5" Flange
USDM is a 2.25" Flange

If your going to get a header with a JDM 2.5" Outlet you might as well wait to put your TP on at the same time instead of having to buy 2 test pipes.

Not to mention you will be introduced to the world of Shitty raspy sounding exhausts.

 

I was planning on getting a skunk2 exhaust n skunk2 header. Desired 2.5" from head to tip...

 

get a PLM PR BWR telescoping one that way it does.t matter when/what exhaust you run. As for shitty raspy sounding...no so long as you have a good resonator and muffler you're be fine. The Megapower is a good exhaust you'll like it it's a lot deeper then most of the ones out there out of the box. Or you can rock a buddy club spec 2

 

It doesn't matter if the Test Pipe is telescopic or not. It's the Flange that he's concerned with. You can't fit a 2.25" Flange with the 2.5" Flange on the Skunk2.

 

BWR and PLM both have a 2.5 OD(2.36ID).

I know that.
But he's asking if he buys a Test Pipe now to put on his Stock Header/Exhaust (2.25") will it fit his Skunk2 Header (2.5") later. Which it will not.

He should just get the 2.5" test pipe and wait till he has the Header.

 

for crises sake just get the 2.5 now and wait untill you get the full exhaust system then do the install, there no point in installing a test pipe with the stock exhaust at the moment.
