pr3 with mugen program??
i'm thinking about getting my pr3 chipped...can anyone that has the ecu tell me how bad the gas milage suffers?? or any other pro's and cons..thanks...
i'm stock..i just got finished with the swap...but im having issues with the knock sensor...and o2 sensors....im still hesitating after adding 2 o2's...thats why im thinking of buying the chipped ecu...but if i get bad gas milage..then its not worth it
i speak from experience with a Stock b16 and a mugen ecu. It does run rich and will give you worse gas milage. I still oved that mugen though even if gas milage did suffer a small amount.
PRO'S: no speed limiter - earlier vtec
CONS: gas milage, not really what you should run on a stock b16.
there are more but i don't really feel/remember
the rest.

I have A chipped PR3 ECU? Its a VS1 chip from ARDperformanec.com
Specs: 10,500 rpm limiter, vtec crossover @ 4700rpm (2 most important) also has no speed gov., ect. I am getting about 230 miles a tank. I drive relatively spirited.
Anyways I know the Mugen proggy dumps major Fuel. They are made for racing. Its made to make power high in the rpms. Its not good for a stock motor. If you upgrade the cams/pistons I would say it would be a good idea. Also get a piggy back to help tune.
Sorry to hi-jack you thread man, but I need some info on this too.
I also have a few qusetions for thoes of you who have the actual MUGEN chip in a pr3 ECU. Whats the revlimit and X-over point? Do you have any motor mods and what are they (block type/ head type/ cams /comp ratio, ect)? Do you have a piggy back or planning on getting one (which one)? What are your dyno numbers? I would be very appreciative if anyone can give their info on this.
Heres my current setup. I have 11.1:1 compression ratio (CTR slugs) with a VS1 chip. I am running stock cams at the moment with B16a block and head. My dyno is in the pits. My x-over is way off (4700) and I am making 151hp at the wheels. I am getting a VAFC next week to change back to 5200.
I am in need of some info here. What are you guys mods and dyno #s if you don't mind. I am hoping this will help with my future decisions.
Thanks

i have a pr3 mugen programmed ecu..and its for sale
i like the ecu cuz it makes my stock b16 run way more aggressive...earlier vtec
and no speed limiter. i got it for the same reason..cuz my car was hesitating because of bad o2's.
but when i misshift i red line the motor up to 10k and thats not good...done it a couple of time and just decided to go with the stock ecu with the revlimiter. let meknow if your interested

i dont notice that much about gas milage....but i dont think its bad....havn't notice much difference in gasmilage when changing programed ecu to stock ecu...i wouldn't mind keeping the chip ecu...but i will sell it for 300 plus shipping

I don't know but I've made 2 different threads about this same thing and never really got a clear answer....either people did it and left Honda-tech or no one from here ever installed one. By the way are you talking about the ones they sell on eBay for $20.00 or so dollars? Those are the ones I've been looking at. It seems likely that more fuel dumpage would be a good thing????

i had a mugen chipped ecu from prospeed. 4100 vtec and 10,500 redline. i got rid of it because vtec @ 4100 rpm is annoying. my b16 was stock, but i got about 270 miles to the tank in my civic. i had both stock ecu and mugen chipped ecu... i could definately feel a difference with the mugen program.
i raced my friend with the stock and then the mugen chipped. it was about a car difference, with the upper hand going to the mugen program.

The best program for gas mileage is the stock program. The best program for power is NOT the stock program. There are other choices out there besides the Mugen program, which I hate because I runs so f'n rich. Email me and I'll tell you what I have to offer for other choices...
i had mugen on my pr3 with x-over @ 5k which was too high.
mods: 11.1:1 compression, portflow head, itr intake mani and tb, dc 4:1 header, AEM intake, etc.
overall liked it though needed a dial in of my itr cams for most effectiveness..

whats the best program for gas milage?? because i dotn think im doing any huge mods anytime soon...just i/h/e...i think i'll probably end up going b18 long block before i spend a lot of money on cams, intake manifold,etc...seems like that would be more hp for the money....so yeh...whats the best program to use with a stock engine...THAT ISNT THE STOCK ECU...i want to be able to run 1 o2 and possibly no knock sensor..i mean i already have all this **** wired up...but it would be cool to have it simplified...cuz im still getting hesitation at partial throttle ..even though i have both o2's installed on my exhaust...and i have them in the right place...
Thanks guys
. Keep them comming. I'm looking for dyno #s if possible. TTT
Stock is going to be the best for good gass mileage. Like I was saying earlier a piggy back (vafc) will help gass mileage termendously if tuned properly. All aftermarket ECU chips are going to dump major fuel. They don't make aftermarket chips for good gass mileage Sorry.

so using a piggyback with a stock ecu will help gas milage? or using one with a chipped ecu? hopefully i can get my knock/o2 sensor issues smoothed out so i wont even worry about getting a chipped ecu...
finally my car is running perfect..so there is no need to go with a chipped ecu...its getting between 25-30mpg on the pr3...thats outstanding! i never expected to get that kinda milage...my hesitation went away after about 100 miles of driving..im not sure what it was..i dont care..im glad its gone..
I got the mugen n1 program on my pr3 ecu. Katman (from FF Squad/affiliate of jdmhondaparts.com) chipped it for me. Redline 9500, fuel cut off 10,500, vtec xover 5400. i love it! Made a substantial difference on the "butt dyno" compared to the stock pr3 ecu. However, it eats gas up like a B*TCH! My b16a was fully rebuilt, and during the break in process ( not driving it hard) i would fill up 4 times in 1 week. After that, just driving to my girls house and back and school and work, i'd fill up twice a week.
I like it, but my plans are to go Hondata, so i can tune the fuel maps properly.

Hey, i just dropped my b16 and im running into probs with wiring the o2 sensors cause of my header.
The header is a Jazma 4-2-1 and it only has i 02 bung. i dont wanna cut it up and weld 2 o2 bungs into the primarys of the header cause its basically brand new.
Now i have read if i use just the 1 02 sensor with the header and wire the 2 wires together thet it will hesitate\bogg and not run right
so how do i fix my problem ?
Would a vafc solve my prob ?

, but im running the spoon ECU so what do i know
you can either get your ecu chipped so that it only uses 1 o2..or you can get 2 bungs welded...there really anent any other options that i know of...you can try running 2 wires from 1 sensor..it seems to work for some people...but it didnt work for me...cant hurt to try though..
Thanks for the reply TheKori
yeah, im really not sure what to do
is there any place that chips ecu's that can just take out the secondary 02 sensor option from the ecu ? or will it still run rich just by simply removing it
really confused about this
