Default ODBII DLC Connections

Hello there. I have 90 model CB1 accord. From the owner i Purchased he had upgraded its engine to F18B VTEC. Engine is in very good condition, no noise or something. SWAP Guys here are not that clever and they tend to just complete the job and get the things going by bypassing things if they can, When the swaped they did not installed the ODBII DLC. Now i want to install it. The ECU I have is of F23A VTEC 37820-PCG-901. Can some one help me connecting the DLC ? any connection diagrams or pin-outs anything to get started?

if the connector isn't the same and I don't think it is you just need to source an obd2 connector and splice it in....the conversion harness should have done it's job in moving the pin already from obd1 to obd2

Problem is that I do not know if there is ODB 1 existing or not. As swap was done probably the ECU was also changed. Now i want to buy ODB2 DLC and wire it up. May be I am wrong if that is perhaps i am mixing things

You guys swapped in a OBDII engine into an OBDI body? That seems like far more trouble than it was worth if you didn't convert it (the motor) down to OBDI. Why are you trying to get it hobbled together as OBDII?

You're also not going to have an OBDII port, so you're not gaining that either. I've never heard of someone adding that in unless they swapped the whole wiring harness.

If the concern is how do you just get the car to accept an OBDII ECU, holmesnmanny is correct, you need an OBDI > OBDII conversion harness for the ECU.

Is for a manual transmission only, they are listing it for '92 or greater but I'd imagine it works on a '90 too. I'd suggest emailing them before buying anything though.

Makes sense though but I suppose the wiring harness were changed too. As I see everything genuine no soldered wires etc. Genuine harness grips and stuff like that. The only thing i cant locate the ODBII connector. the ECU lives behind the Stereo. Which wire should i trace that would lead to the location of PORT if it has not been properly fixed somewhere

Well your biggest problem is going to be that there wasn't ever a factory location for the OBDII port in those Accords since they were OBDI up until '96.

What ECU is currently plugged into it? An OBDI and OBDII ECU look different physically at the connections.

The factory ECU location is in the passenger side floorpan behind where you'd rest your feet while sitting.

I thought/read it as he's wanting to use that ECU? It's already hooked up you think?

ECU is already hooked up and car is running with it. The ECU is custom placed behind stereo. This is port view. I think its ODB2a.

Now where to start ?

Also if i look at http://www.auterraweb.com/obdiipinout.html its easy to wire just 4 pins. How ever protocol determination is one thing....... If we look at http://www.ff-squad.com/technet/wiring.obd2a.htm it says K-line is at pin 8 of connector C. I suppose its going to use VPW Protocol if there is one data line....... one other possibility is ISO and KWP Protocol as its one pin data and other is optional

Did you even bother to look at the link that Muffinman provided ? If that truly is what you have then it's obd2a going by the ffsquad link.

What I would do is to buy an online service manual for a '98 honda accord ex from mitchell on demand or alldatadiy and look the wiring diagram. Then you will need to source an obd2a connector and compare what wires go to the connector and from what pins at the ecu. Then add the wiring to the ecu connector(s) and obd2a connector as needed.

Yes actually in above post it was typo as the links i posted were for 2a.

I would look for avalibility of ODB2a wiring harness in junkyard in my city (this car parts are only found in car junkyards only now a days)
