Default So it was raining today..

aaaaand I didn't have time to swerve from the puddle before my car went into it. Quickly switched lanes but 1/8 mile later the car shut off.

Buddy & I checked the below but are still scratching our heads.. any ideas?

*inside of air intake was dry
*inside throttle body was dry
*most components had a little bit of water (not terribly wet)
*spark plug (boot?) was dry
*tried to jump car, didn't help
*car sounds like it's turning over
*fuel pump comes on
*electrical sounds fine
*We did a twice over on the fuses, nothing obviously broken

Free beer for help?!

Doesn't matter if it was dry or not. More than likely sucked water. I've sucked minimal water through my turbo before and it didn't want to run smoothly. Pull your plugs and let it air out for awhile and then try to kick it out of the system.

Sorry- could you explain the "kick it out" analogy?

I was pressure washing my engine bay and the plastic bag I had over my air filter had an unseen hole in it. When I went to start it it wouldn't run without the gas pedal being applied. I removed the air cleaner/intake and let the throttle run at about ~2k rpm while the existing water either was spit out or burnt up. If water in the intake, runners, or even cylinders exists it can almost instantly foul the fuel and potentially the plugs creating a no-start condition.

Like I said, yank your plugs and let it dry out. You could also remove your plenum chamber as well to check for moisture.

Cold air intakes don't really work buddy. Unless you have like a super restrictive OEM intake I doubt much benefit from a hot piece of pipe sucking in dirty air from under your bumper.

Think it was mostly hype. Those 2-5 hp and TQ is not worth hydrolocking the motor.

Spot on. lol Before I went boost I had an AEM short ram with an AEM dryflow filter simply because my stock intake tube was full of cracks and took up a ton of space. Now I have a cold air intake that actually does something. lol Unless you live in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, etc. there is no SAFE way of running a CAI.
