Transmission leak (Axle seal)
Greetings,
I have a 2001 Accord with 215,000 miles on it. Today I notice a transmission leak on the driveway. After further investigation it is coming from the driver side axle seal. I have read on this forum and other internet sources that it could be a failing differential bearing. Is it possible that its just the seal and not a bearing? If it is just a seal, do I need to replace the axle and seal or just seal? The transmission shifts fine, has had proper maintenance through out its life.
Thanks

If you buy an aftermarket seal be sure to grease the inner lip or the seal to allow for the seal to breakin properly. Failure to grease it could cause the seal to leak. Honda seals come pre-greased.
