Hey guys
Gonna pull my IACV today. I thought I read there's a certain fuse to pull so that the ECM can relearn the airflow and make adjustments to the IACV. Is disconnecting the battery just as good or do I even need to do that?. Thanks for any help

Tip #4: How do I reset the ECU to clear the CEL codes?
After you retrieve the CEL codes, then reset the ECU to clear the codes. This is done by removing the 7.5A hood Back Up fuse for 3 minutes or more and then reinserting it. Then drive the car to see whether the CEL again remains on steady. If so, pull the codes again to see whether any of the original codes has repeated. This step is important because you only want to troubleshoot codes that repeat. In general, ignore codes that pop up once but don't repeat.

Thanks for the quick response Dj, I appreciate it. Hey I hope I didn't mislead with my question but I don't have any CEL's. Just pulling it and cleaning it out, never been done and has 185,000 on it. Still pull the Hood back-up fuse?. Thanks

Just a little more info. I pulled the 7.5A back-up radio fuse. Got it all back together, but now the idle is even lower than it was before. Is this just gonna take a little time for the ECU to readjust or do I have more work to do.

There is a re-learn that IMHO I would do.

I'll hit the highlights.....cold engine. Pull the fuse for X amount of time. Shut off any "draws" on the car....AC, blower, radio, ect. Start the car without touching the gas pedal. If it starts, don't touch the gas pedal.

Let it run until the fans cycle at least once.....see what you have from there. A "friend of mine" wrote this up.......: http://www.hondaaccordforum.com/foru...e-speed-38734/

Thanks dude. I decided on just pulling the negative terminal on the battery for a few minutes. The idle since the cleaning is probably the same, 750RPM's +/- 50. After reattaching the battery I just started it up without touching the gas. It ran at 1250 and then worked it's way down to a little under 1000 before I put it in gear and drove it. It clearly has more power and maybe it's just me but I really noticed it on the highway. I consider this closed for now. I gotta pull my drivers side drive shaft and gonna replace my shocks all the way around during Christmas break, thinking about pulling off the throttle body and giving it a good cleaning cause this cars gotta last me a couple more years. I will say my 97 SE has been a fabulous car, and maybe because I religiously have changed my oil and had valves adjusted and belts changed. But it's the best car i could have ever bought. Hopefully I won't have to be on hear before then.
I just wanna say to all you guys who read these posts and give non-mechanics tips and ideas on how to possibly fix things are life savers. i need this car everyday for work so i have limited amounts of time to really tearing into things as many on here do I'm sure. i have probably saved my self over $2000 in doing things my self. thanks Again
