2.0 midori build
Hello everyone welcome to my build thread.I will be posting pics as i go..I really wanted to wait for the car to be finished but oh well..So the story goes like this..It started with a craigslist ad tittled "honda civic k-20 fast motor".The car was posted by a shop for a week up untill the point i saw it..I was curious why it was still for sale.K swapped hatch for $4500?go figure it was posted under cars & trucks dealership and i guess nobody looks in there.I called the guy up about the car and he said it was still for sale,he sounded like he didnt know much about the car and stated it makes 300hp -_-so me and my buddys go over there and check the car out with intentions of it being a slow ep3 motor, stock ecu, nothing special since the ad did not say what it had other than "k-20 motor".As im checking the car out my friend whispers to me "its an a2",he looks under the carpet and there's kpro..Without a doubt i took the car for a spin and bought it with in the next 15mintues.

Fast foward a couple months ive had alot of fun with the car,it was tuned and very quick.I just didnt like the fact that it had alot of rust,it was missing **** here and there, and most of all i didnt build it.So after some hard thinking on if i should keep it or get another shell i made my mind up..I drove around old people neighborhoods with a pen and sticky notes leaving them on bone stick civics..i was only focused on coupes and hatches..Months go by and i find a couple interesting shells but they never fell through..Then one day i decied to drive by this neighborhood and stumbled upon a bone stock O*G 96 Midori ek hatch, factory 5 speed..When i saw it my jaw dropped so i left a note and the same day i came back and knocked on the guys door.He was second owner and had it for about 5 years.Month later i returned and scooped this baby for $1300,60k miles

both my hatches

I was really excited about owning my fav colored hatchback ever and can already picture all the things i want to do to it,reading through nwp4life has had a major influence on my build and the route im going with. One of my biggest inspirations was this midori hatch build named "leroy"

So i got straight to work with the hatch, second day of owning it i was already removing parts.i couldnt wait to get the single cam out of there so i can clean up the bay.I had some friends come over and give me a hand, heres the single jingle coming out.

Now that the motor was removed i was able to clean the bay up and make it look great.I didnt have any intentions in painting it since it was pretty clean after i cleaned it up with purple power and a brush,i was really satisfied with how it came out.

me cleaning the bay,my friends bom rsx in the back

since im putting my k in the midori i had to remove the ek subframe and get a eg/dc subframe,so i picked one up at the junkyard,it was caked up with gunk and grease so i had alot of cleaning to do,again purple power ftw.after that i sprayed it somewhat wirinkle black

picked up a brand new eg manual steering rack along with outter tie rods and installed the subframe

removed the brake booster to paint it

I decided to not do ac and remove everything for it,i figure this is gonna be my toy, weekend car and i dont mind having the windows down =p sadly the car had freezing ac,oh well..removing all the components from the dash and the bay

took the back seats out, seat belts, spare, jack, speakers and lost around 70lbs

painted the fuel pump cover and cleaned the carpet

pic of the motor, should be going in very soon, just gathering little stuff to drop in

how she currently sits while awaiting parts, ill update once i work on her, enjoy
:corn: :corn:
mail man f dropped my wheels off,im super excited to run these,im doing a 205/50 nitto tire.

I want in on this one. So, someone sold you the hatch with 60k for $1.3k? WOW. And a K for that cheap on top, you're a lucky man. I guess good things come to those who wait... too bad I'm impatient... lol
Anyhow, I'd love to check back on this. Nice :D

Great job! You made a lot of tough work look very effortless.
No extra "fluff". Just good parts, put together cleanly with efficient execution.
Man, can't believe how CLEAN that engine bay paint came out! Got lucky there, for sure.
