Default type r tranny

Hey whats up. Have a type r tranny with lsd. Sometimes shifting from 1st to 2nd it feels kind of notchy but does not grind at all.

Do you think a tranny fluid oil change will help this out?( with GM syncromesh oil)

and what exactly is that notchy feeling you get when shifting gears?

Thanks~

Check your Linkage and Bushing.
If that's all fine a dandy your fluid could be old.
Or your Sychros or letting you know there going to take a **** on you.

When the synchros/sleeves go bad its near impossible to shift without grindage. But the other dude is right. The notchiness comes, in my experience, from sloppy linkage/old shift bushings/old fluid (any combo of these will do it)

Yeah.
Check your linkage and bushings.
Determine if your fluid us good.
If those check out it has to be internal, sychros.

You can still change gears. It'll just grind. Until eventually it'll kick the shifter back. And then you'll need to rev match just to get it to shift.
