Default A/C Issues..Take a look please

I have a 96 Accord Ex wagon.
Vtec engine.
When I have the AC on in stop and go traffic the temp gauge goes up.
I shut off the ac the temp goes right back down.
I have checked the anti freeze and it is all good.
What am I missing?
I need to get this fixed...I roasted my nuts today in traffic! LOL

You could try looking at it. See if it's on when the car is starting to overheat. There are two fans. Make sure both are running when the ac is on and the compressor is on. They should also be running together when the ac is not on. If only one is working at any time while the car is on then something is wrong and make a note of which one is not running.

I have had this problem on a couple of cars, one not Honda. Notably when I switched from R12 to R134a. The AC condenser must put out a lot of heat when the weather is hot.

Only the drivers side fan comes on when the ac is on.
I will drive it around later and see if it comes on when the car gets warm.

Huh.....you have found the issue? I would start testing "why" the pass side fan is not coming on.

Put 12v to the motor, does it run....if so start working your way back up the circuit (relay, fuse, connections, ect).

I drove the car back from Erie, PA to Cleveland today. All highway and no issues. But the passengers side fan does not work.
I got home and popped the hood. As the car fans turned on, only the drivers side worked.
I will check the drivers side fan a little later.

When the AC button is pressed, both fans start spinning. If not take 12v to the non-working fan. If it doesn't spin with 12v applied to it, fan is bad=replace.
