Im thinking of buying a 81 Crx si but it burns a little oil when the guy first starts it it smokes but once its warm its fine no more smoke what could it be ? and how much would a shop charge to fix it

 

Old piston rings? Spark plugs and gaskets leaking? I'm not really sure what to say. If it runs fine and it doesn't burn too much oil, I wouldn't worry about it. It's an 81. Put a new(er) motor in there and call it a day. Someone else might have better insight as to why it burns oil on start. Is it blue, black or white smoke? If it's white it's just condensation and not oil. If it's black it's just fuel and runs rich on the start, no worries there. But a little blue smoke might not be the worst thing ever. Could be some sort of PCV valve issue or something similar to that. Hard to trouble shoot over the internet, ya know?
